Kindle Wireless Reading Device (6" Display, U.S. Wireless)

This product is currently out of stock
Description:

At 10.2 ounces, Kindle is lighter than a typical paperback and as thin as most magazines. Barely a third of an inch in profile, you'll find Kindle fits perfectly in your hands. Kindle is as easy to hold and use as a book. We designed it with long-form reading in mind. When reading for long periods of time, people naturally shift positions and often like to read with one hand. Kindle's page-turning buttons are located on both sides, allowing you to read and turn pages comfortably with one hand from any position. The page-turn buttons now flex inward to prevent any accidental page turns when picking up or handling Kindle. Kindle has a new easy-to-use 5-way controller, enabling precise on-screen navigation for selecting text to highlight or looking up words. Kindle is completely wireless and ready to use right out of the box--no setup, no cables, no computer required. With Kindle's 25% longer battery life, you can read on a single charge for up to 4 days with wireless on. Turn wireless off and read for up to 2 weeks. Battery life will vary based on wireless usage, such as shopping the Kindle Store and downloading content. In low coverage areas or in 1xRTT only coverage, wireless usage will consume battery power more quickly. Whispernet utilizes Amazon's optimized technology plus Sprint's national high-speed (3G) data network to enable you to wirelessly search, discover, and download content on the go. Your books and periodicals are delivered via Whispernet in less than 60 seconds. And unlike WiFi, you never have to hunt for a hotspot.

3Not sure yetMar 18, 2010
At this point, I'm still not sure about this product. For what it does, I think it is fine. But, I think it could be far better at $200 plus. As a student, and there's a lot of us, I see these being an excellent all-in-one device for textbooks, lectures and notes. If someone produces a product that allows me to write notes to its memory as I'm reviewing material or listening to a lecture, transfer text to my notes by highlighting said text, and accepted lecture presentations (power point, pdf, etc) and allowed me to make notes on those lectures, then that would be something I don't think I could resist so long as it had a bigger screen (8.5 x 11)...

43rd KindleMar 18, 2010
This is my 3rd Kindle in a year and a half. The 1st 2 (1st generation Kindle) were accidently dropped and broke instantly. Since I do like the Kindle alot (can't do without it) I bought this one. It is thinner and some of the new features are great. No more accidently turned pages! But I do not like the on/off switch. Always have a problem turning it off, takes several tries. The battery does last longer...but no memory card. It's a great tool, and thank Goodness for the insurance!!!!

5I am lost without my KindleMar 18, 2010
AWESOME!
I am an avid reader, more than one book at a time read, and this allows me without carrying around all my reading material. Best present, other than my children, that my wife ever got me. Thanks Amazon for your great service and book selection.

5I am a "real book" person, and I love the Kindle.Mar 18, 2010
I bought my wife a Kindle and she loves it! I am a real hardcover book guy. I never intended to get a Kindle, but I did as a Christmas present. I believe I read 4 or 5 times as much now due to the ease of the Kindle. I can read 4 or 5 books at the same time with no problem, just click which one I feel like reading. I haven't even learned most of the added features, but I do highlight certain passages in most books, which is easy to do.It is also so easy to download a book as someone is recommending it on the radio or tv. This is awesome for commuters or world travelers!

5Love, Love, Love my KindleMar 17, 2010
If you are on the fence about buying a Kindle .... BUY IT!!!! It is by far the most wonderful gift I have ever received. My husband purchased this for me for valentines day because I love to read. It is easy to use and you can download books in seconds. The battery stays charged for a VERY long time. I am a pretty fast reader but I read a book and a half on a single charge. The other cool thing for me is I have tried new authors that I may have not read simply because buying actual books is expensive and quite frankly where do you store all the books, this way you have the best of both worlds you can read all you want, try new authors and you don't have to buy a new book shelf to store al your new books. last but not least BUY A KINDLE...YOU WILL LOVE IT !!!
